Skills shortages

A large gap exists between the demand for and supply of skilled workers in South Africa.

Despite high levels of unemployment, private sector job vacancies remain unfilled as a result of inadequately skilled labour force.

Human capital and skills development is therefore required, both to address unemployment and to facilitate the growth of the private sector and performance of South African companies.

Without adequate supply of necessary skills, the investment industry is unlikely to realise superior financial returns, as companies are hindered by this constraint.
